Large Dynamic Triaxial

The large triaxial is a dynamic hydraulic press that can apply a maximum axial force of 160 kN and an axial displacement of 100 mm. For dynamic problems, a maximum axial frequency of 1 Hz can be applied, either stress- or strain controlled. The hydraulic press is typically used with the large triaxial cell, which allows testing a soil sample of 250 mm diameter and 500 m height, but smaller diameter triaxial cells can also be used. It allows testing of soil materials composed of large grains. It has been extensively used in research, but also in a variety of consulting projects, as it covers specific testing needs that cannot be easily covered by commercial laboratories.

The technical specifications of the large dynamic triaxial are summarized as follows:

  • Specimen diameter: 250 mm
  • Specimen height: 500 mm
  • Maximum axial force: 160 kN
  • Maximum axial frequency: 1 Hz
  • Maximum axial displacement: 100 mm
  • Maximum cell pressure: 1000 kPa
